Ba’aja
Ba’aja
This site was first studied by archaeologists in 1984 and it has been extensively excavated over the past decade. The latest archaeological explorations confirm that Ba’aja was a big production center for a wide variety of goods being traded along the rift valley approximately 9,000 years ago. It hasbecome clear that the residents of Ba’aja were producing sandstones rings in an almost industrial manner. These prestigious goods were produced not only for their own use, but most probably for export also. Many stone tools and artifacts were found at the site, including shells used as decorations, grinding tools, clay artifacts, arrow heads and flint tools.
