The Archaeological Documentation and Tourism Research Center carried out a comprehensive survey of the Petra District from March 1 to June 20, 2021, which is the seventh census of the district and the first by the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority. This census came to cover the significant lack of data of the authority, especially the data issued by the General Statistics Department 2015 report, when the department faced a large refusal from the district’s residents to participate in the census. Therefore, the motto of this survey was (for our future, a census of all). This survey also came to provide a database for the Center for Archaeological Documentation and Tourism Research, which in turn conducts research related to tourism and the local community, including the negative and positive impacts of tourism, which is one of the most important aspects of sustainable tourism development.
