Al Madras
Al Madras
Retains its Nabataean name, which is referred to in an inscription in a triclinium that cites Dushares as the god of Al Madras. During the winter, the wadi drains its water into Al Siq, contributing to increasing the risk of flooding. More than 20 ancient small scale dams intercepting the wadi have been found. The nature of the wadi with its high slope area suggests that these structures were put by the Nabataeans to reduce flooding risk in the city of Petra and help manage their water resources.
