The Tomb of Aaron
Situated 1,353m above sea level, the Tomb of Aaron is a landmark located on the way to Sinai and Egypt through Naqb Al Ruba'i. A monastic complex was built on the location in the 4th-5th centuries AD. The earlier church was a basilica with a central nave, two aisles and one apse to the east, supplied with a bench (synthronon) with a throne for the bishop. A chapel was added to the north with a hostel for pilgrims. The site was operative up until 10th century AD, according to the historiographer Al Mas'udi.
