Beidha Neolithic Village

Beidha Neolithic Village

This Stone Age village flourished around 7000-65000 BC - the “Pre-Pottery Neolithic B” period.   Six stages of architectural development have been identified here; the earliest structureswere circular, single-room houses with wooden posts along the walls (the post holes and grooves can still be seen), while the latest were rectangular houses with plastered interiors.   There is also evidence of campsites and hut shelters that previously occupied this spot.     Relics from the 9th and 10th millennia BC have been unearthed here.   Nearby, there is a small area with basins, standing stones and paved enclosures that is thought to have been a form of sanctuary.
