Umm Al Biyara Trail

Umm Al Biyara Trail (5hrs-6hrs)

Degree of difficulty: Difficult

An Edomite settlement that sits atop a high mountain, it is tough to climb to get up to Umm Al Biyara, but the views from up are worth the experience. As you look down upon the ancient city, you will also see the modern town of Wadi Mousa, Jabal Haroun and Wadi Al Siyya. The ancient staircase that leads up to Umm Al Biyara has been renovated. At the site, you can see the remains of water systems dating to the Edomite period, while the site was later re-used by the Nabataeans. In addition, you can find cisterns, houses and some artifacts including pottery objects. In your way along the main trail, you can enjoy a number of sites en route to Umm Al Biyara.
